Benzoic Acid is a solid, colorless crystalline with strong odor. It has the appearance of flaky white substance under normal conditions. The benzoic acid formula is C6H5COOH. The salts of benzoic acid also known as benzoates are commonly used as a food preservatives. Benzoic acid melts at 252.3°F (122.4°C).
